Thomas Joseph Goodwin

Son of Christopher G. Goodwin and Mary A. Sanford, husband of Maria A. M. Rathjen, whom he married on April 24, 1923 in Manhattan, NY. Marriage - Thomas Joseph Goodwin, aged 28, single, born 1895 in New York, NY, the son of Christopher Goodwin and Mary Sanford, married Maria A.M. Rathjen, aged 21, single, born 1902 in New York, NY, the daughter of John Rathjen and Maria Boschan on April 24, 1923 in Manhattan, NY. Obituary - Thomas Joseph Goodwin, 79, of Blue Point died on December 28 at Southside Hospital, Bay Shore. He was born in New York City and had been a resident of this area all his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Post 725 of Patchogue, and a member of Fourth Degree James J. Shea Council, Knights of Columbus, an exempt member of the Bayport Fire Department, member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Our Lady of the Snow R.C. Church of Blue Point and of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of the Snow Church. He was a veteran of World War I, United States Navy. Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife, Maria; one son, John J. of Ohio, one daughter, Mrs. Marie A. Van Kleef of Patchogue; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James and Joseph Reidy of Patchogue; and three sisters, Mrs. Marie Loewenstein of Queens, Mrs. Margaret Roser of Patchogue, and Mrs. Cecelia Kelly of Colorado. Knights of Columbus and Fire Department services were held at the Robertaccio Funeral Home. Wake prayers were held on December 30, at the Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated the following day at Our Lady of the Snow R.C. Church in Blue Point with interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn.
