A small seaplane crash-landed on a waterfront embankment on Long Island Tuesday morning.
The single-engine, single-passenger aircraft went down just feet from the waters of the Great South Bay off of Bayport shortly before 7 a.m., Suffolk County police say.
In April of this year, a small plane crashed after taking off from the Bayport Aerodrome. Several Bayport Firefighters that lived near the crash site rushed to the scene and pulled both the pilot and passenger from the fiery wreckage and airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
This past Friday (Sept 2. 2016), at the Bayport FD’s regular monthly meeting, Pilot Scott Clifford and passenger Michael Rome attended the meeting and met with the BFD membership to personally thank them. Additionally, New York State Senators Tom Croci and Phil Boyle also attended and presented recognition awards to several firefighters and civilians that were participated in the extrication of the occupants.

What is Big Buck$ Bonanza?
Big Bucks is the Bayport Fire Department's primary fundraising event. The money gained from this event pays for the annual expenses of the Fire Department. 2000* tickets are sold throughout the year until they are sold out.
How much does a ticket cost?
Each ticket costs $100*
What is the 1891 ticket?
Each ticket is numbered 0001 - 2100 (beginning 2024) with 2099 tickets sold. Ticket number 1891 (in honor of the year we were founded) is raffled off for $1 on the day of the event to participants that are present. The winner receives the 1891 ticket which is eligible for all prizes.
