Eugene Sullivan

Son of John L. Sullivan and Mary A. Garrity, husband of Lucille Payne and father of John L., Marilyn (married Farley), Judy, and Ann Sullivan. Obituary - Eugene L. Sullivan, 69, of Patchogue, died Tuesday at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Born in Bayport, he had been a resident of Patchogue for the past 26 years. He was a life member of the Bayport Fire Department. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Lucille; a son, John L., and a stepson, Ralph Zegel, both of Patchogue; three daughters, Marilyn Farley, Judy Sullivan, and Ann Sullivan, all of Patchogue; two sisters, Ellen Campbell of Patchogue, and Mary Bumstead of Bayport; and by eight grandchildren. Wake Prayer and Fire Department services will be held at the Ruland Funeral Home tomorrow evening at 8 p.m., details for the latter not available at press time. Mass of Christian Burial will be read at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church, Patchogue, with the Rev. Edward Boyle as celebrant. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Ernest Stoll

Former Commissioner. Body was reposed at Bayport Fire House Husband of Ellen Caroline Sidaway Barnsley, whom he married in 1909. Husband of Bertha E. Brink. Marriage - Stoll-Barnsley- Ernest Stoll, of Bayport, and Miss Ellen C.S. Barnsley, of Patchogue, were married in the parsonage of St. John's Lutheran Church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon by the pastor, the Rev. Hermann Zoller. The couple was attended by Mrs. and Mrs. Tice Locke, of West Sayville. Mr. Stoll is a valued employee of C.M. Rogers and Co. and the couple will reside at the home of the groom's parents in Bayport. Obituary - Ernest Stoll, 69, one of Bayport's best known citizens, died at his home on Snedecor Avenue on Monday after a brief illness. A native of that community, he was always one of Bayport's most active civic and fraternal workers with an emphasis fire department affairs. Mr. Stoll was an agent for the Railway Express Agency in Bay Shore until his retirement about five years. Since that time he had been a special police officer for the Town of Islip. He was a trustee of the Firemen's Home at Hudson, N.Y., a past president of the Suffolk County Volunteer Firemen's Association, secretary of the Suffolk County Fire District Commissioner's Association and a past president of the Islip Town Firemen's Association. Mr. Stoll was also a past chief of the Bayport Fire Department, president of the Board of Commissioners of the Bayport Fire District and a past president of the New York State Fire District Association. In addition, he was a past master of Connetquot Lodge No. 828, F. & A. M., of Savyille, a member of Suwasset Chapter, Royal Lodge, of Patchogue, and a member of Court Bayside, Foresters of America, in Sayville. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Bertha Brink; a brother Eugene C. Stoll of Bayport; and a sister, Mrs. W. Bates Stark of Bayport. His body reposed in the Bayport Fire House where fire department and Masonic services were held on Tuesday evening. Some 600 uniformed volunteer firemen from all sections of Suffolk County, as well as representatives of various fire associations throughout Long Island and New York State, attended the services. Religious services took place on Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Joseph H. Bond, rector of St. Ann's Episcopal Church of Sayville, officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Patchogue.
