Accident on Sunrise Hwy

[August 21, 2013, Bayport NY] The Bayport Fire Department reponded to a motor vehicle accident late Wednesday night eastbound Sunrise Hwy at Vets Hwy. The driver of one of the vehicles was traveling
westbound in the eastbound lane. Both drivers required extrication via the "Jaws of Life" by the BFD and SCPD emergency services and were transported by Community Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Nissan Maxima, which was traveling eastbound, overturned and the driver suffered multiple fractures and was listed in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle traveling westbound, Julie Cardona, 55 of Brightwaters, sustained non life threating injuries and was charged with driving while ability impared by drugs.
