Former CommissionerCharles M. Dedrick, 67 of 247 Snedecor Avenue, Bayport, died Sunday at his residence. Born in Holtsville, he had been a resident of Bayport 61 years. He was a coal dealer and a mason contractor. An Exempt member of the Bayport Fire Department, of which he had been a member more than 50 years, and formerly for 36 years was a Bayport Fire Commissioner, he was also a member of the Bayport Fire Police. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Bayport; a son Charles M. J., of Stone Ridge; two brothers, George of Bayport and John of Freeport; three sisters, Mrs. Anne Bryant, of Ridge, Miss Jane Dedrick and Mrs. Kathryn Cianci, both of Miami, Fla., and four grandchildren. Bayport Fire Department services were held Tuesday evening at the Ruland Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Landon K. Owen, pastor of the Bayport Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove, Patchogue.
